The body depends on age,
The soul is always young.
Stuffed into a smoldering cage,
It longs for freedom.

It perceives freedom through the bars.
With the help of arms and legs
It tries to play at life.
And who would help it?

The one who also limited it,
Controls the inexperienced movement,
Teaches for eternity and provided a passage, —
God’s everlasting Spirit.
