Someone had to pay God,
To quench His wrath,
To step onto the block of the insolent,
So the sinner might live by hope,
Might more deeply
Realize his repentance
And cleanse his garments
On the road home.

The Lamb chose marriage with the blameless one,
Who will value the sacrifice and hear the call,
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth
Works in the New Testament as well,

Whoever mocked and did not stop in evil,
That one will lose salvation
From not understanding
That with Love as his face
The descendant of David set himself as a shield
Not among creation,
But before the Creator.
