The rake still teaches,
Forming the thinker.
The pupil’s steps — five,
One step — the teacher’s.

To recognize a reliable one,
A rung for growth —
Here is where wisdom would help,
And choosing is not simple.

Insolent self-assurance,
Messenger of egoism,
Having clenched rage into a fist,
Giving itself over to whatever-ism,
Carelessly steps into the abyss —
And will eat itself.
