A little bird, a dog, or a cat,
A mouse, a beetle, or a viper
Will replenish the emptied world
That parting has robbed.

Friends and family are far,
There are no passions at all,
It is lonely somehow and not easy,
Everything around blooms, but winter is in the heart.

I must seek a temporary comfort,
I greedily catch the little beasts’ gaze…
If only I could remember
And come to love
My own soul,
Which always,
Wherever I go —
Is unfailingly near.
