Refuse the influence of the cosmos,
Of aliens in various realities,
Yet you cannot escape the description
Of the sky in its boundlessnesses.

Earth in the palms of the universe,
Even clenched in a fistful,
Will not miss the census —
A grain, but it will be counted.

We watch the stars through telescopes,
Not to mention the planets,
So can it be we ourselves don’t belong
To the archives where we too are objects?
Above the head and underfoot
The world and worlds.
As if we were the owners,
Yet they possess us too.
