The Lord’s Day — a day of rest,
The break between days — sleep
Periodically they make a stop,
So that at least for a minute
The Holy Spirit’s byssus might touch.

So that among cares and sorrows
A crack might suddenly break through —
“Peace to you,” — they said quietly
Consequence and first cause.

Sleep and the Sabbath —
Rest stops on a long road.
Yes, work is needed too,
To find peace in God.
