Enough of politics,
Time to rest from the war,
Let’s talk food, weather, or sport.
Tired of criticism,
We’ll test the ability to love,
Forget the discomfort, at least a little.
In the kitchen, politics
In the proportions of spices,
At work and in church,
In frost and in heat,
In the park or the gym, there it is again.
Psychology and physics,
Drama and lyric—
Struggle everywhere.
There’s no hiding from cares —
Even in dreams the irritants pester.
We’ll have to accept and not resist:
I and circumstances — constant companions.
