For a chick to hatch
It must grow from the inside,
And from outside be wrapped and warmed.
First it should learn
To wrestle with problems.
To teach others,
First come of age.

The egg thinks itself wiser than the hen,
The student than the professor, man than God,
Understands better and sees farther,
Acknowledges only itself and no one else.

Regardless of individualism
And of the cold of the cosmos,
However the creature pampers itself,
The soul’s egoism is accepted,
No other way was found for it either —
The Creator warms it too
With a sun for eternity.
