556-9
The labyrinths of life
With the unknown and dead ends
Seem like freedom at the exit.
In truth a new discovery
With mountains, forests and seas —
Is a riddle in an even larger form.
The victor’s feeling turns out to be infirmity,
Laurel leaves crumble from the wreath,
And paralyzed by the universe’s grandeur
You surrender to the Creator’s mercy.
I am no almighty god in my primitiveness.
Do not bow before me,
I too lack the favor
Of the one who is in the heart and above the head.
