Yesterday’s brothers, inseparable friends
Were split by a blast wave —
War set them at odds.
It is far away,
Yet hatred rolled
Not only through the district —
Through the Americas and Europes it passed with a plow.

The key to love has still not been found,
Though it seemed they held it in their hands.
Each of us separately strives for greatness,
We display holiness, and drown in sins.

Death’s sting is so tireless,
And life calls to the summit of salvation,
Where understanding will at last be reached,
Peace and bliss — complete.
