I cannot live someone else’s life,
For several daughters, or at least for a son,
But the Father in heaven and mother Earth
Live through us unceasingly.

You cry, and someone rejoices,
At the neighbors’ there is grief, over the city a salute —
That’s the planet grieving, breathing, dreaming.
For us it’s here and there,
But for her only here.

Sower and reaper, benefactor and thief
Sacrifice or steal —
In care for me, in the agitation of peoples
Father and Mother live through us.
