The CAR vanished in a strange city.
In church, in a holy place,
My people have all gone and there’s no one
To take me home.
I don’t even have a phone.

I’ll have to find a way out of this mess,
Ask strangers for shelter.
And around me — homeless hangers-on —
So I sleep under a bridge or in an alley.

I got lost,
They stripped me
And drove me clean away.
My last anxiety —
That they not steal my soul as well.
