In silence I strain to grasp it.
The vocal cords are resting.
I cleanse my conscience,
Trying to avoid the trap.

The Word came, the body came alive,
It stirred. I spoke.
Not only did I long to share with my neighbor —
In my own speech I enriched myself.

I waste no energy on empty words.
I order myself: «Weigh it all well!»
So as not to ask:
«Did I really want
To leave asleep
The guardian of my lips?»
