Did not work,
The 10 commandments
They ignored.
A Stalinist firm hand
The people demanded again.
Other ideas ran short,
All they could, they neglected.

Aggressor and victim
Steal from their own,
They complain of corruption.
Conscience is dead,
They call for dictatorship,
Though they know a more perfect way out.

Do not covet your neighbor’s,
Do not contemplate adultery,
Do not bear false witness,
Do not steal, do not kill,
Honor your parents,
Keep the Sabbath.
Avoid idols,
Do not take God’s name in vain.
Believe in Him and honor Him.
